My history with caps

When I was younger, no matter what the weather – I’d be wearing a cap. It became a kind of obsession, I refused to go out of the house without a cap. To be honest, It wasn’t just out of the house, even inside I wanted to keep the cap on but my parents would usually give me a hard time for that. I don’t know what it is about hats but they gave me a sense of security and they have practical benefits like keeping the sun out of my eyes!

For my teenage years, when I was out chasing girls, I pretty much gave up my hat obsession. Many girls seem to associate caps with anti social youths – not a good image when you’re trying to get lucky and find the girl of your dreams. It took some adjustment but I did feel better for letting go.

Now I’m getting on a bit and my hair is thinning, I’m back to my hat loving times. But I look for more practical hats now days which fit with the clothes I’m wearing, the location I’m in and the weather of course. It’s more of a utility than a fashion statement or confidence booster.
